Gil Parrish (continued)
In the field of public and private education, Gil has helped school administrators and school boards to meet the challenges of governing a local school system in trying economic times and periods of public pressure to improve student achievement. He believes that today’s public school governing authorities must be forward thinking and embrace the very best "out-of-the-box” thinking for moving school systems forward. From budgeting and facilities management to personnel and classroom initiatives, Gil believes that children deserve our best efforts and planning to insure America’s continued future leadership in global markets.
Prior to his focus on the education governance arena, Gil served education as a "loaned executive” from BellSouth Corporation. During a fifteen-year career with BellSouth, Gil served in a variety of management and executive positions including Director of Public Affairs, Media Relations Manager, and Director of Advertising. In every BellSouth position, Gil maintained close ties and leadership roles with the education communities where he served
After leaving BellSouth, Gil served as Vice President for two national and international public relations firms. In 1992, he was selected as the first Assistant Executive Director of the Georgia School Superintendents Association. In 1995, he was asked to serve as the first Deputy Executive Director of the Georgia School Boards Association, representing all 180 local public school systems in Georgia. Gil held that position until December of 2004 when he rejoined the company he founded to focus more specifically on helping smaller and mid-sized entities do "more with less” and achieve the "success they deserve.” His company, Parrish, Brumfield & Associates LLC, is located in Atlanta and New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
